Kendo:
Kendo translates to "the way of the sword," it is the art of Japanese Swordsmanship in a sport form. This is the most popular martial art in Japan today. Its roots lie deep in the culture of Japan and the spirit of the Samurai.
Modern Kendo is a mix of sport and spiritual discipline. Its based on classical Kenjutsu (swordsmanship). Kenjutsu originated thousands of years ago from the use of swords on the battlefield. Kendo players are protected by Bogu which consists of: a Helmet called Men, Chest guard called Do, gloves called Kote, and a heavy hip padding called Tare.
